Engine/ Block Interchangeability

All, some expert advice would be greatly appreciated here.Question- Are the engines/ blocks fully interchangeable between a DB petrol /paraffin 25C and a petrol/paraffin Cropmaster. Failing that ,does anyone have a serviceable block for a 25C ?
Thanks in advance , AJK.

Re: 1965 David Brown 880UE Implematic, how to prime transmission hydraulic pump?

Just a thought. Before removing the PTO housing ,why not check the pump is getting drive from the PTO clutch plate. To check engage the PTO with a dead engine and then try to manually turn the PTO shaft. If the shaft will not turn the driveline is good. If it does turn the driveline is at fault.Sometim...

Re: 1965 David Brown 880UE Implematic, how to prime transmission hydraulic pump?

May I suggest checking the pump for terminal wear. Implematic tractors were equipped with the Dowty , bush pressure balanced units which may wear in two areas. 1- Over time the two pumping gears can contact the bottom of the pump body and grind a wear track in the aluminium .If the wear track exceed...

Re: 30C Diesel Starter Motor

To obtain an approximate figure do the following. 1- count the teeth on the flywheel and starter bendix gear. 2- divide the flywheel number by the bendix number. This is the gearing ratio. 3- most old Diesel engines require a cranking speed of approx 250/300 RPM Therefore multiply the 250/ 300 by th...

Re: 30C Diesel Starter Motor

This starter motor, or cranking motor as Lucas/Cav preferred to call them , is probably the early CAV unit ,fitted to 25/30 D,s amongst others in the early 50,s.We had two such tractors on our farm and these starters were totally reliable although they had a fearsome reputation with the repair shops...

Re: Adjusting spool valve

The external valve you refer to is a Cessna double acting unit set to kick into neutral when system pressure exceeds ,from memory, approx 2,000 psi. This avoids system overload on the open centre system caused by blowing off of the main relief valve, the MRV. The kick out setting can be adjusted by ...

Re: Injection Pump Inlet Filter

In answer to your query re non starting engine , as long as there is any fuel emanating from the pump return line that is enough. The FIP is then receiving all it needs. This return fuel is surplus to the pump requirements so the actual flow amount is irrelevant. Actual pump,FIP, output can only be sa...

Re: Injection Pump Inlet Filter

A good test for like problems is to disconnect the leakoff pipe from the upper front face of the DPA pump and run a plastic pipe from the exposed stub fitting into a clear container located next to the driver . Then either load the engine onto a dynamometer ,if available, or drive up a steep hill et...

Re: 1410 with 2 dump valves

The most likely explanation being a mistake on the initial factory build card. This A4 sized card was printed out in the product planning office and accompanied the tractor down the line folded between the injectors and engine rocker cover. It was scrutinised at each assembly station and appropriate...

Re: Nylon Filter in the By-pass Valve Plunger

Further to the above posts ,the following points may be of interest. 1- Early Selectamatics were not equipped with the composite bypass filter. Instead the threaded plug had a relieved ,plain tail to hold the orifice plate in situ. The filter was introduced late 66 onwards on S 2 valve chests with t...
