Re: 990 selectamatic control mechanism PUSH ROD height control

Thanks for your messages. I’ve recently received very good help from a tractor breaker in Dorset. The owner Richard Pocock was very thoughtful and knowledgeable on the phone. Even with the virus restrictions the replacement part has arrived quite quickly. He sends world wide with a DB crankshaft abo...

1968 selectamatic 990 TCU extra washer +

I'm nearly at the end of the control valve unit refurbishment. I had to lightly drive down the valve to remove the ferrule The TCU would not pull out, I used a mini drill with tapered abrasive cutter to lighly remove a burr at the top. It then slide out easily. Inside the removed valve I found a spr...

Re: 990 selectamatic hold dump valve missing ball ???

I'm delighted to report that ALL the valves are now loose and clean and the spool valve that has a code number of 096 has been set to exactly that measurement.

Many thanks to Ollek and others who have helped me with dealing with it.

Stay Safe.

990 selectamatic latching valve removal

Aftter about 5 hours of trying to loosen and remove what seem to be a totally firm Latching Valve I've been successful. I drill a very slightly undersize hole in the end of a bolt then split the end of the bolt slightly opening the end of the bolt with a screwdriver. It gave me a tapered hole that w...

Re: 990 selectamatic hold dump valve missing ball ???

Ollek thank you again for the clear information regarding the Spool valve. The image of control valve system shows a 'lowering rate' spool valve and the spool valve you refer to. Today I've been working on the LATCHING valve. The plug and spring have been removed but the Latching valve seems very fi...

Re: 990 selectamatic hold dump valve missing ball ???

Another possible problem. Does anyone know? To remove the SPOOL valve do I have to remove the machine screw indicated by the orange paper arrow in the photo? This screw has been damaged in previous years, is too tight and is probaly needing to be drilled then removed with a removing tool. IMG_1890 V...

Re: 990 selectamatic hold dump valve missing ball ???

I may have found at least one problem.

Having removed the the ram shaft, 2 studs are found sheared off and fortunately I located the nylock nuts in the Control Mechanism.

Of course I will check the Control Valve Assembly

Remarkable detailed prompt replies. Thank you very much. ***************************** Just info The only other owner, who owned it for 47 years only use a front end loader that was powered by an extra pump on the PTO. My work on hydraulics is probably the last work required in my 3+ years of renova...
