Norfolk Mainly DB auction 3rd Nov 2018

A most interesting day.
I am sure there will be various reports from others.
I am finding that I seem to be only able to attach one photo at a time.

Re: 990 Selectamatic instrument panel removal

Problem solved.

A local person has given me advice that the steering column needs to be loosened and that has given clearance to remove the dash.

Thanks to all who viewed.

990 Selectamatic instrument panel removal

Is there an easy way to remove the dashboard instrument panel from a 1968 990 Selectamatic? I may have missed an obvious route but it looks as is the steering column also has to be removed. My DB 990 Selectamatic repair manual does not mention it and I can not find any listings about it in the Forum...

Re: Hydraulic filter on fitting problem on 990

Many thanks for your quick responses and the details you have sent.

I will put it down to experience and be happy that it is not a fault with my DB.

Hydraulic filter on fitting problem on 990

This afternoon I have tried fitting a new filter to my selectamatic 990 that I’m steadily refurbishing. I have a problem and I wonder if the filter I am fitting has not been manufactured correctly or someone may understand what I’ve encountered, having had a similar difficulty. The filter ‘tube’ wit...

Re: where does this small part fit Selectamatic 990?

Thank you for the remarkable knowledge and understanding. Yes, I now remember after I had DB 990 towed to my property, I then moved the gear levers and one gear lever ball disintegrated in my hand. I then removed said item to establish the type of thread. Hopefully sometime in the future I can help ...

where does this small part fit Selectamatic 990?

I have almost refitted all parts on refurbishment of the 1968 engine. I had labelled containers so that I knew where removed parts fit. BUT I remember near the end of disassembly stage thinking "I will easily remember where this part fits". My brain has stopped working. Please does anyone recognise ...

Re: 990 Selectamatic rocker shaft oil hole advice please

The video link is superb showing exactly what is needed, many thanks. A firm that is David Brown parts specialist has found the part I need and it will be with me very soon. The reassembly is progressing well, pistons in, valves lapped, head torqued down etc. This is the first time I’ve asked for he...

Re: 990 Selectamatic rocker shaft oil hole advice please

That’s a fabulous reply, thanks.
I’m confident that I did not remove one at the disassembly stage.
If anyone has a spare one you could be sitting on a ‘gold mine’.
If not I’ll fabricate one from a correct thread bolt.

990 Selectamatic rocker shaft oil hole advice please

I am at the assembly stage of the engine that had been seized when I purchase the tractor 6 months ago. I carefully stored and labelled parts I had removed. I am about to fit the cylinder head and rocker shaft. Although I can not recall removing a bolt or stud or similar from the top of the oil hole...
