780 brake drum

Hi All, After finally getting round to changing the brakes on my 780, I took the final reductions off to discover that the left hand brake pads weren't actually worn down but the oil seal had broken, allowing oil to fill the brake drum, shown in the photo. So the next job is to remove the brake drum...

Wheel/Tyre Swap

Hey everyone, I currently have 32 inch rear wheels and 19 inch front wheels fitted to my DB780. I'm looking to replace them with the original size 28 inch and 16 inch wheels and corresponding tyres. What I would like to know is if anybody here has those wheels and tyres and would be interested in do...

Re: Trunnion repair

Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can get the axle off over Christmas and have a proper look, I'm hoping the casting isn't worn like you say.

I'll keep you posted :D

Re: Front tyres for loader

Thanks guys, I’ve already rebuilt my trunnion, and will certainly look at the wheel bearings. Are worn king pins tolerable? A counterweight is also on the to-do list, though mostly I expect to have my rear blade on for spreading so I’ll have to ballast that as well. What Ollek says about tyre ratin...

780 engine keeps dying

Having some issues with my 780. After starting fine form cold and running no problem for a decent period of time, when I then drive it up the road and get the engine nice and warm, the revs will sometimes jump up and down, this will slowly get worse while driving and eventually the engine will die c...

Downswept Exhaust DB780

Hi all, I'm looking to put a standard upright exhaust on my 780, at the moment it has the full fitted downswept exhaust, all the parts I need are easily sourced but before buying the parts I thought I would see if anyone has an upright exhaust that they might want to swap for my downswept one becaus...

Re: PTO Housing DB 780

Unfortunately some previous owner has already welded a bolt thread into it and it's the previous weld that has cracked and is leaking.

Re: PTO Housing DB 780

Thanks guys, really helpful information.

The leak itself is coming from one of the bolt holes that holds the support bracket for the drawbar in place. The other option is to weld the bolt holes but I'm thinking if it's easier to replace the whole housing then I'll do that.

PTO Housing DB 780

Hi all, Could someone please tell me how easy it is to replace the PTO housing on a DB 780? The current one I have has an oil leak. I know there are all the PTO gears and the hydraulic pump in there so just wanted to know if it would all fall out if i unbolt the housing and pull it off. any other in...

Re: 780 alternator wiring

So i can't seem to find a spade terminal, the only spade terminal is connected to the other end of the starter button wire. In the picture, the green and black are connected to the starter button (no key) and the red is straight to the live terminal on the battery. I am still a bit clueless as to wh...

Temperature gauge?!

So I've fitted a temperature gauge to my 780 as it didn't come with one. The gauge I've bought has three terminals, one is earth, one is + which I assume is the live wire from the battery and the third is labelled gg? I have the sensor connected to gg at the moment. I've wired them all up but the ne...

Re: 780 alternator wiring

Assuming that the tractor has the ordinary Lucas ACR alternator the spade terminal(s) which supply the output are the two large ones which are actually connected together. The small spade is connected to the charge warning lamp to excite the alternator. I've tried connecting one of the large spade ...

Drawbar assembly

Hi guys, I need to buy a new rear drawbar assembly because the one I have on my 780 has been chopped and changed by the previous owner. I have found one on eBay from an 1190 and was wondering if they're interchangeable. Looking at the pictures they look like they're the same but just wondered if any...

780 alternator wiring

Hi guys, On my 780 there was a loose brown wiring coming off of the starter solenoid which I assume connected to the alternator to charge the battery, but i'm hesitant to connect it back to the alternator because there are three connections. Could someone tell me which connector to put it onto? Thanks
