Re: 996 project tractor

It spins over like the injectors are out of it...
Probably ruined all kinds of stuff.. this thing may be parted out .. it is getting to be too much trouble and parts are not easy to find any more..especially over here in the US.

Re: 996 project tractor

My next question is if the cam stopped spinning while the pistons are will the pistons ruin the valvetrain or is it a "clearance " engine that will not damage valves and such?

Re: 996 project tractor

Well a bad thing happened today! Something went wrong with the timing gears! Was going along and it acted as if it ran out of fuel amd and died... now spins with no compression.
Looked in the oil fill and the gears are not turning when cranking .
Is this a common issue?

Re: 995 thrust bearing

The thicker the friction material the more you need to tighten the adjuster nut and could wind up with it fully tightened.
If the clutch and pto releases ok it will wear rapidly enough and shortly all will be fine as it burns off all the fuzzies on the faces of the friction material .

Re: Door latch on Sekura cab

Have it tig welded with silicon bronze.
Using a torch could over heat the springs.
Tig is fast and precise. Silicon bronze is low temp but very strong. And if any of the parts are case hardened, it will not affect it or crack from cooling to quickly.

Re: 1212 dynamo charging

4 " it not going to work very well when the crank pulley is not much larger.... the generator/dynamo needs to turn at least twice crank speed to give a strong charge current. How were you able to get the belt on? Mine on my 996 just fits with a small pulley. It would never go with a 4" pulley? Does ...

Re: 10/37 Industrial 885 reductions onto an 880 Implematic?

I believe they will bolt up but the gear ratio will be different as the 380ck always had smaller wider tires thus the reason for the 10/37 ratio. Also there may or may not be holes where the mounting points are for 3 point hitch stabilizer bars and such if it was on a tractor chassis that was to use...

Re: 1212 dynamo charging

The light should go out around 1000 rpm and pulley size should be about 3 inches or 75 mm give or take a bit. If it does not charge well you can try checking contacts and if your brave and mechanically gifted, check the brushes internally. They can be real tricky getting apart with out breaking scre...

Re: 996 project tractor

Awsome link I will download them to my hard drive for sure! I have 2 David Browns in my shed one is the wonderful 1594 and the other is my project tractor the 996. The 1594 was a municipal tractor when it left the factory painted yellow(yuck!) And I took it all apart and painted it black and red. I ...

Re: 996 project tractor

All the Case related folks over here are having fits over the update and are all over Case for it, as they now have to manually look up the parts that they have in stock. Very inconvenient. As for my injector pumps they are functioning as designed and work very well. The power steering pump conversi...

Re: 996 project tractor

Are you folks across the ponds able to access case parts and get part numbers and names for the parts off their websight? I can't seem to access a lot of bits now that they did an update about a month ago? The picture of the parts is still there but when you look for it in the description it is comp...

Re: 996 project tractor

I understand how it works But really think a good battery and a way to warm the engine is far and away better especially for the battery and starter motor. Anyways you said it better than I would have Thanks again . And while we are on the subject: what about the button on the side of the Simms pump...

996 project tractor

Well after getting new lamps and fitting them to the tractor fenders I now have running lamps, marker lamps and all directional lights for turning working and I was able to use almost all the original wires. I had to make a few modifications for the new hazzard lamp switch and new aftermarket direct...

Re: I just bought what?

Bypass valve was stuck up just enough that the spring could not push it back down. If you folks had been paying attention to my progress you would have noticed all the spots I have found for water to get in to the transmission. The first thing I replaced was gear change lever boots, then as I repair...
