Re: Witch david brown engine have i got

A Case 580G is a backhoe/fork lift, isn't it? I believe this would be a Case engine and would not be associated with David Brown.

Re: Replacing Fuel Lift Pumps, 885 and 990

Nearly 2-1/2 months later, I finally replaced the fuel lift pump on the 885. Taking it off and putting back on was a snap. The hard part was removing the old gasket material and cleaning the mating surface. That took me over an hour! The right side of the 885 is now nice and dry. The only snag to th...

Replacing Fuel Lift Pumps, 885 and 990

The fuel lift pumps on both my 885 and 990 are leaking from where they mate up to the engine block. I have the replacement pumps, but before I dive into it I have a couple of questions. First, do I use any gasket compound between the paper gasket and the engine, or is it installed dry? Second, do I ...

Thanks for the info Scooby. I prefer the brown/white combination so I'm glad to learn it applies to this specific tractor.

Re: DB996 Query

Hmmmm, that could be it. It certainly looks like the lever for the hand brake, but should be facing to the rear (according to the parts list illustration) instead of to the front. Perhaps it is broken, hence the reason it is zip-tied. So what would be the correct color for this '73 DB996, Orchid Whi...

Re: DB996 Query

I was also wondering what the lever below the right foot floor panel is, the one secured with the zip ties.

DB996 Query

I saw this DB over the weekend. I suppose a previous owner really wanted a Ford, so they painted it blue. However, according to the serial number it's a 1973 DB 996. I thought the 996 was not sold here in the USA. If not, I guess it found its way over here somehow. Is the "hand clutch" I've read abo...

I don't know specific to the 880, but if it's like my 885, the boot just slipped right on. It was a good snug fit.

Going Salvage Hunting

All, I'm heading to a tractor salvage yard in Missouri next Saturday (16-Feb) to hunt for DB parts. If you are looking for something in particular, send me an email, and I will try my best to look for it while I'm looking for my parts. I can take pictures, note prices, etc. and forward to you. If yo...

Re: Are These DB Tools?

Indeed, the two openings on the double spanner on the far left are hexagons. The shaft of the tool on the far right has a hexagon cross section and fits into the openings of the double spanner so I had assumed they went together. I'll try to get a measurement on these at some point, but from what I ...

Re: Are These DB Tools?

Thanks Scooby for the reply. I'm amazed what I find down on the farm at times. Just last week I found an original DB fender turn signal. Our 885 hasn't had the fender turn signals/lights on it since probably 1985, or before. My dad must have taken it off 33+ years ago and set it aside. I also found ...

Are These DB Tools?

While cleaning up the shop recently, I came across these. The one on the far left looks very much like item #7 from the DB885 parts list, but the only marking on it is *TR-3A*. Anyone able to help identify? Thanks in advance.
