RE: Fuel tank removal

re assembled the tank, attached lines, new filters purged the air out and she is running lovely again. The vibration from the fuel tank is still persisting but I found that applying a little pressure to the front of the tank, between it and the rocker cover stops the noise, so must be the solid line...

1290 Replacing brake advice

Is it a complete nightmare changing brake shoes (assuming the 1290 has shoes and not pads) on a tractor?

My 1290 has started to make more or a grinding scraping sound rather than a squeal.

Is it a one man job, or do I need to call in a pro with specialist tools etc?

regards

Thanks for the help all who contributed. I finally got to the bottom of the overheating problem. Blocked radiator and faulty new thermostat. I drained the rad and a muddy brown liquid trickled out, So I removed the radiator completely and rinsed it out as best I could. This removed the worst of the ...

Fuel tank removal

The 1290 has been cutting out on steep inclines, so I assumed fuel. Sure enough the glass bowl had some sludge in it, I removed the tank also as I suspected sludge in that too;;;;and sure enough loads of crap in the bottom, so its all cleaned out now. As a bonus I found an old filler can plastic fun...

Power steering question

My 1290 steering is more sensitive turning right than left. So when driving along the lane the when the steering wheel is turned right, or clockwise, the steering/wheels respond quicker than when turning left. Is there an adjustment, or probable cause?

Thanks

RE: 885 Noise from rear sounds bad

Get the guy who did the work to put it right, if you start fiddling with it then you may find he will not take responsibility and may even blame you, if it turns out he is at fault of course!

Good luck....not fun at all

RE: What have you done to your tractor today?

I see nothing wrong with your methods. I removed the seat and the covers either side, one of which covers the control lever. These levers where stiff, so I thought I'd get them cleaned and lubricated. I found a mouse nest (vacant) and the whole area caked in mud, I'm surprised anything moved. I have...
