exhaust manifold

When I bought my 990 the exhaust muffler had been bronze welded to the top manifold piece. This has now broken away and I need to replace the muffler. The top (removable)part of the manifold that is bolted to the main part needs replacing but I am worried that when trying to undo the bolts they are ...

990 gearbox

My 990 selectamatic some times does not want to go into gear but if I wriggle the gear lever it will work. For example, I try putting it in 1st gear and I have to put it into 2nd or 3rd and then it goes into 1st. It does not do this every time but I am wondering if this is normal for an old tractor ...

Re: slasher mower

Apparently the slasher gearboxes here are rated as suitable for different horse power tractors. This is so that you don't use a high horse power (as in modern 100+ HP tractors - according to the seller- which would blow a 30 hp rated gear box.

slasher mower

My old slasher mower has given up the ghost. My tractor is a 990 selectamatic live drive which I believe are rated at 55 hp is this correct? My question is I have the chance to buy a second hand slasher. There are two on offer - 1 is rated 50 hp and the other is 60 hp. Would the 50 hp work OK or wou...

990 selectamatic water pump

Hi
I am probably dreaming, but is there a way to replace the bypass hose on the 990 water pump without removing the pump?

slow turnover

I know that this is not a Db tractor question but I feel that this is a problem that could possibly affect any type and there are so many of you out there with wide knowledge of tractors in general that you may be able to help me. As well as my 990 I have an old nuffield and now for some reason when...

Re: starting problems 990

Thanks Ollek. Have bled the system but not looked at cap vent or air breather. Will blow out fuel line. Filters are not very old.
I have noticed that fuel leaks around the fuel glass bowl but it appears to be full of fuel. Would this allow air in?

990 selectamatic water pump

I am replacing the water pump on my 990 AD4 selectamatic engine (1966 model) with a new one.
Can anyone tell me the torqe setting for the bolts please?
Anything I should be aware of when replacing it?
