Have always used 46 hydraulic oil as the correct mineral oil was not available years ago, still do and works fine.

Fan Bearing

The fan and belt idler bearings on 1690-94 are they available or does someone have a bearing cross reference for them, they seem similar to water pump bearings without the shaft on one end, would like to have a spare if ever needed, has anyone replaced one thanks.

Re: 2wd 1490 tyres

Hi Wheelie they were just some worn tyres i came across, they are on the original 15" rims that are on the 1494, only difference to the 1490 is the paint colour can see the orange under the chocolate paint chips.

Re: AD3/55 880 Selectamatic new rings?

Any chamfer on the outside of top rings will cause blow by, only chamfer on top rings should be on the inside to put pressure on the ring to seal against the bore, look it up this is correct, carefully remove the ridge, hone the whole cylinder, fit piston and new rings this is the correct way all eng...

Re: Selene axle for 1200 1210

Hi some thoughts on the gear and axel, it is possible to make gears from blanks teeth hobbed and hardened and axels made up from similar size piece of axel from something else and splined to suit, this is often done to car axels. Also would the remaining company of DB Gears --incorperated with anothe...

Re: 2wd 1490 tyres

Hi Wheelie the original 11L 15 left a polished mark on the king pin but didnt cause a problem except they tended to bounce over rough ground rather than cut through it like a 3 rib tyre. Later on i put radials off a 4 wheel drive truck on these had soft side walls not 8 ply ones and were fine with t...

Re: AD3/55 880 Selectamatic new rings?

Most engine re builders remove the ridge if any before removing the piston and old rings makes it a lot easier but care must be taken when doing it.

Re: AD3/55 880 Selectamatic new rings?

Hi i dont remove the ridge with a ridge removal cutter as it leaves a bad finish but carefully remove the ridge with a polishing tip on a high speed grinding tool then hone the whole cylinder, the ridge must be removed if re ringing in my opinion.

Re: 2wd 1490 tyres

Hi it all depends what you are doing with the tractor, my 1494 arrived with 18.4-34 cross ply tyres and full front weights which resulted in a very poor riding on rough cultivation not helped by the bad Grammer seat --one bounce and two from the seat and was finally replaced with a torsion suspensio...

Re: 1410 parts

Hi depends on the make of front axel some parts -seals- u joints would be available from aftermarket suppliers, hood is probably the same as 1210-1212-1200, fenders maybe similar, check out tractor wreckers nearby.
