RE: Re: RE: Cropmaster rear lights

This is why I don't "bother" coming on this forum anymore. Why criticise someone for trying to help with information which to the best of their knowledge is correct? That's what a forum is supposed to be about, open friendly discussion not snidey back biting remarks like that.

No, it's surprising how many old tractors you see still on original tyres. I got a new 8 wheeler tipper at work at the beginning of November. It had a full set of chunky new Bridgestones worth about £400 each and I've already done three of them in on landfill, glad I'm not paying for them.

Thanks for that Andy, I've had a look round some sites and the cheapest I've found is about £300 + vat each. The tyre fitter at work said he could get a pair of cross plys for £612 all in and he would come round and fit them for me one Sunday so that seems fair enough. Obviously they're not going ...

Tyre prices

Could anyone in the UK give me a rough idea of what I could expect to pay for a pair of budget type new rear tyres for a 1210. I don't need top of the range, just something decent enough for the occasional road run. Size is 13.6/12-38,
Cheers, Steve.

Hi Scotty, mine too needed a rear crankshaft oil seal when I first bought it, clutch was okay though when we took it out. Here's a pic of when we split it. Steve.

Hi Scotty, your 1412 looks in much nicer original condition than mine. The one I have seems to have been destined to be exported to Denmark originally as all the stickers inside the cab are in Danish but with English stickers still there underneath. Does yours have the big David Brown decal across th...

Yes, well I remember on my nose cone you could faintly make out a sticker saying David Brown Retail, Wiggington, York. I don't know where mine began its working life but from the late 80's till around 1996 it belonged a demolition and excavation firm in Hull where it was solely used for cleaning the...

Scotty, a bit of a surprise when I saw your tractor reg number. My 1412 was the next one along, must have been side by side in the same dealership. Do you know any more of it's history?

David Brown Spotting

I always keep an eye out for DB's when I'm on the road or out and about. Here are some I managed to spot recently whilst on holiday in the Lake District.

It is very genuine and original, got original starter motor, alternator etc and hasn't been messed about with but also hasn't seemed to have had a lot of servicing. The former owner was not a DB man at all but had aquired it to put a front mounted hoe on it for scruffling sugar beet. He had the whee...

RE: 1210,1412,1412

Thanks Oily, the 1412 in the middle I bought as a seized up tractor and paid scrap price for spares. The owner said he'd "blown it up" and it would never run again. I took the sump and head off for a look and it had only picked up on one big end bearing and didn't look too bad. Only thing was it'd b...

RE: 1210,1412,1412

Hi Dieter, I only wanted one tractor really, bought the first 1412 because it was available from a friend, bought the second 1412 for scrap price so I thought I might as well have it for spares and then got the 1210 because I'd always really wanted one with a VQ cab like I drove when I was a lad. St...

Well that seemed to work okay, so I'm up and running. Quite proud of myself really, did that without the help of the more knowledgable people in the house ( wife and kids).

My new 1210

Sorry if this seems like I'm messing about but I'm just trying to get this photo posting business sorted out as regards adjusting the size. This is the 1210 model I've been wanting for years and finally got it last November.
