Door Seals 996 Sel with VQ (squarer) doors
Hi My 996 4WD Loader / back actor unit is lacking the rubber door seals on the VQ pattern cab. There is a rectangular channel welded to the doors which probably allows a slide in flat tab to retain the seals. The 9962WD is being refurbished and will have the same need for seals - except the doors ar...

RE: Exhaust Brake
There was one just recently on everybody's favourite auction site - stated it was fitted with exhaust brake -I think that was a 1200 or 1210 so that would fit with JFs experience. Would it not have been sensible for Highways versions to have one on with road duties and importance of speed control on...

RE: Re: RE: Storing a DB outside - any tips
HI I'd just add one more comment as I learned to my cost simply covering the end of the exhaust isn't enough. I'd consider taking the silencer off completely and covering the end of the exhaust elbow. Some DB exhaust stacks have a lip round the flat end of an oval silencer box ( selectamatics) and t...

DB Disc Ploughs
..... Well are there any left ? I have a fascination for these and watching the historical videos showing use for cultivating VERY rough ground / jungle - and even grubbing out ground crops , suitably modified, makes me think they could be just the thing for very poor compacted moorland pasture with...

RE: 50TD at work
HI WOW! WOW! 1 - 70 acres = "a paddock" 2 - What a piece of kit ! - is the front end a protective plate /guard ? Std DB ? - I guess the normal rounded grille is behind that . Cooling issues in your levels of heat ? ?? Front end weights ? 3 - Impressive panorama to say the least - even from o...

Just a line to say thanks to JamesF , his dad and Robert who worked logically and steady to get the "Moorland sentry" 996 from its post onto the trailer with no mishaps . It no longer acts as decoy to keep the rust worms off the 996 4WD Digger , and is in the Intensive Care Unit in Ewden waiting for...

RE: 996 4WD "Digger" - Wheel query
First - thanks for the advice re the rims . To be clear , DB front axle , wheels and tyres v much as per spec. Front tyres brand new , size as stated . Rears are superbly refurbished 30 inch , with 16.9 R 30 well worn and cracked tyres. I have a separate set of 36 inch wheels ( with the minor rim ir...

RE: 996 4WD "Digger" - Wheel query
Thanks Erkki Fronts seem to be as per spec but with the narrower 9.9 - 24 (brand new) tyres . Rears are Radials - well worn - hence the need to replace - but I wonder if the OE spec was written for Crossplies ? Could it be if the setups are correct ( Spec again confirms 16.9 30s with the narrow fron...

996 4WD "Digger" - Wheel query
Current rear wheels are immaculate but 30 inch. The thing looks like an eager gundog sitting in anticipation , nose up - attractive enough but the stabiliser arms on the backactor are in danger of grounding on dips or when the outfit gets the JCB 'nod" on the road. I have found / bought some 36 inch...

RE: Wheels and tyres 1210 4 x 4 with kramer axle
Hi
The spec sheet on this site for a 1210 4WD suggests 13.6/12-38 rears but no spec evident for the fronts I'm afraid....

RE: David Brown 996 4WD Project
Looks a cracker. Usual issues with " string vest" cab panels .....?? Just out of interest what size boots are on it ? are they the 30 or 36 inch rims ? What about the fronts ? I've still got conundrum of replacing rears . Spec sheet suggests 13.6 /36 with my 9.5 / 24 fronts but I have 16.9 / 30 on e...

DB Disc Ploughs
Hi Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get replacement discs for a DB disc plough? Always thought these were the "dogs doodah"s where rough , variable, stony or consolidated land is being worked . I want to get / restore one but if the key wearing components arent available it would be a labour ...
