Re: Ready for wet sand blasting

The other job I am working on is the throttle linkage that runs from the hand control to the governor. The one that came with the tractor has a cut and join in it plus an odd shaped bend where it turns to go to the governor. I was pointing out that the rod should have an adjustable connection. Elec...

Re: Ready for wet sand blasting

I was not wrong and I have no reason to apologise because I was not criticising you or your tractor. I was just indicating how things should be and what parts are available not only to you but others that use this forum.

There should be a spring inside the hydraulic quadrant. Round rubber knobs are available for the throttle and hydraulic levers that have been adapted.
You confirmed that there was a spring.

I will not answer any questions or make any observations regarding your tractor in future.

Re: Ready for wet sand blasting

The rod from the hand control to the governor should have an adjustment connection in the middle.

Re: exhaust manifold

New flanges are available from davidbrownparts.com
Try heating the nuts a few times and let them cool and then soak with release oil. Sheared studs can be drilled out but this requires skill and accuracy.

Returning oil through the filler plug should not be done on a Selectamatic DB.

Re: hand crank start 900?

The recommend cold starting procedure for the Cropmaster Diesel was to decompress the engine and spin it over until oil pressure was obtained. This procedure was hardly ever carried out. The cranking handle supplied, was intended for maintenance purposes. I have started warm DB engines with the hand...

Re: 780 hub seal / wheel bearing

The ring nut needs to be really tight. This can be achieved by holding the nut and turning the hub with a long bar ( 4 ft + ) placed through the wheel studs with the wheel nuts on to protect the threads, and finally, hitting the end of the spanner with a lump hammer whilst maintaining pressure on th...

Re: 780 hub seal / wheel bearing

Remove the six cap screw/bolts from the seal housing and it can be detached from the reduction casting. The bearing can then be knocked out. Check the collar that the seal is in contact with for wear and replace if necessary. The seal housing and bearing etc have to be fitted onto the hub before ins...

Re: 950 oil filter housing

Bolting on would not be a problem but I am not certain if the oil holes would be in a suitable position. There could be problems with oil supplies to the rockers and pressure gauge as not all Cropmasters had an oil feed from the rear of the camshaft. A better solution would be using the filter canis...
