Re: Hydraulic take off on db 25

Personally I would not recommend using diesel to flush the gearbox in any pre-1959 DB with a steel hydraulic pump.

Re: Dynamo and regulator wiring

rid54. This is a seventy year old tractor with a gear driven CAV dynamo with engine governors attached. Without major modifications the fitting of alternative equipment is not a viable option.

Re: Dynamo and regulator wiring

I would be surprised if you can successfully charge a 12V battery with the 6V CAV dynamo on your tractor.

Re: Dynamo and regulator wiring

The dynamo will be six volt, there are twelve volt versions but these were only fitted to industrial tractors. The original regulators became obsolete sixty years ago. The regulator pictured is not a DB fitment. The regulator was replaced with one mounted on a plate on the fuel tank mounting positi...

Re: Dynamo and regulator wiring

As I have stated —there are three wires coming out of the dynamo- dynamo-field and earth. The regulator is someone’s adaption. 6V batteries are available but of dubious quality and quite expensive. The starter motor works better with a 12V battery making engine starting easier. This is a common feat...

Re: Dynamo and regulator wiring

The voltage will be stamped on the dynamo casing. It is quite common to see these tractors using a 12V battery for starting with a 6V starter motor. This does not harm the starter in any way, in fact 6V starters were fitted on some DB tractors with 12V belt driven dynamos by the factory. The regulat...

Re: Cropmaster gauges

Instrumentation on the Cropmaster dashboard varied according to the age of the machine and the fuel used. If the tractor was not equipped with lights there would not be a hole for a switch and if electric starting was not present there would not be a hole for an ammeter. Oil pressure gauges replaced...

Re: Cropmaster gauges

Cropmasters were never fitted with fuel gauges. The oil pressure gauges did not have a black background.
