RE: tapered shaft fittings
The pullyes John mentiones are used with what is known as a taper bush or taper lock to fit them onto a cilindrical shaft with keyway. These cannot be used to fit pullyes onto a tapered shaft! Go to a local power transmission shop that supplies belts/pullyes/chains/sprockets/bearings/seals. Most of ...

Is this a round nyloc nut with 3 or 4 slots in it? If so, these are thightened with a "hook" spanner (not sure about the translation to English). http://www.google.be/search?hl=nl&cp=7&gs_id=4b&xhr=t&q=haaksleutel&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&biw=1440&bih=735&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab...

RE: 996 hiccups when lowering
I've opened the cover on the RHS of the ramshaft. No rust in there, lots of grease and all shiny parts. Everything seemed to move smoothly when I operated the arms by hand. I haven't tried this yet with the tractor running. What part actually operates the spool valve in the valve chest? Is it the me...

RE: 996 hiccups when lowering
It actually does this, with and without a load on the arms!
We've tried adjusting the lowering speed but no succes there.
I'll try to make a video about it, that might show it better than me explaining it.

996 hiccups when lowering
Hello, our 996 developed a hiccup when lowering last winter. I noticed it after we lifted some heavy logs with it. Every time I lower the 3PL linkage it seems to drop a little to far, which makes the height control kick in and adjust it to the desired height. The faster I lower or the farther I let ...

RE: Number of Bosch fuel injection pump?
Are you sure it is the injection pump leaking fuel to the engine and not the lift pump at the other side of the engine?
As it is a much more common problem and a lot cheaper to fix, maybe it is worth a try before having the injector pump rebuild.

I'm in the process of looking for a new fan belt as well. The one on my 1210 right now, is a Gates auto master 6449? which translates into a AVX10 X 1175. This one leaves me with little to no room for adjustment as it seems to be to short. (I'm barely at 1/3 of the tensioner + it slightly rubs the b...

RE: 1210 4wd
I think this engine will be more like a 1410 hp wise, thus requiring a 1410 backend. And than there is the question of hooking up implements to use all this extra horsepower. I allways thought the 3 point linkage of a 1210 looked a bit weak for a 1490/1494, just fine for a 1210 though. I think Mitch...

RE: 1210 4wd
Why did you change to this type of fuel filter?
Where the old ones to big for the oil return pipe from the turbo?
Do I see pipes for an engine oil cooler?
I think you will be putting a lot of hp through that 1210 back end with this engine setup !

RE: 990a loader hook up ?
You have to mill it so far, that you actually drill out the bores for the pipes coming from the rear axle, to be able to screw in hydraulic fittings? Converting the camels hump + a regular hydraulic valve (with power beyond) could give me live external hydraulics on 9 series tractors for much less m...

Hi DB770.880,
How did you modify the camel's hump?
Did you just mill it flat until you could drill and tap 2 threads in it?
Jonathan

RE: 3 point drops very slow unless it has weight
While the 3 way valve was standard equipment on UK models, export models often did not have them. I'm guessing that the live take off valves or remotes would have been more or less standard on North American Models. Most Belgian models even came over without external hydraulics, all had to be retrof...
