Re: New electrics
I buy HT wire cored leads by the metre and fit new connections myself so that is yet another option. If you do buy from David Brown Spares they also have a set of colour coded HT leads which were on your machine from new. No matter which way you go buy a new condensor while your shopping it might be...

Re: 990 Selectamatic Linkage Geometry
I would be looking at his top link too for the haybob. If it clears the ground near the tractor and is touching the ground at the rear then top link issue is high on the list to look at. But with out a clear picture of the complete set up, tractor, lifting arms, top link and haybob we can waste time...

Re: 990 Selectamatic Linkage Geometry
Sounds like there will be 2 fixes for the one problem, shorter top link will solve the problem. See if you can source a good second hand one or buy new from your dealer.

Re: 990 Selectamatic Linkage Geometry
Still no picture of your one. Are you able to post a picture of it so it might get resolved?

Re: 990 Selectamatic Linkage Geometry
Still need a picture from different angles to work out what is wrong there. This is why I asked if there was an adjustment available like on some old ploughs or if there are other pins to connect it to that are down lower.

Re: 990 Selectamatic Gearbox, how noisy is too noisy?!
If the manual states you can use use EP80 then yes it can be used. My thoughts are if there is an option on the grades of oil that can be used then I would relate the options to outside temperatures. A thin oil here in Australia during Summer would not be recommended in one of these gearboxes. A hea...

Re: 990 Selectamatic Linkage Geometry
That seems to be a fairly high lift. You really should post pictures to see what is wrong.

Re: 990 Selectamatic Gearbox, how noisy is too noisy?!
I agree with you ollek, we are saying the same thing but errki mentioned about gearboxes not being noisey when new and it has been a long time since this model tractor was new. All too often you have corrected me when some small piece of information is either not correct or not applicable to the top...

Thasnk you for your support on my reply Mike, that was the context in which it was posted not to be rude to another member. Ollek has a distinct dislike towards me and takes many oppourtunities to correct me when wrong and I certainly accept that but when the reply I commented on was stating that D....

Re: Can an amateur fix a blown 885 head gasket/piston rings?
Quick answer is yes you can replace a head gasket with basic tools but you will need a tension wrench. If you do take the head off it is certainly worthwhile to check the valves and reseat them to ensure they do what they are designed to do. Doing the valves is not an expensive exercise to reseat th...

Re: 990 Selectamatic Linkage Geometry
Yes some good information offered up and will be helpful. Especially the full lift height which will give a good indication as to what you should have.

Very true arrki but we are not discussing a new tractor it is a 990 selectamatic so all of those issues will apply to make the noises dont you think?

Re: stop cable on the red 770
Im guessing you meant the pull to stop knob. Do you havea manual for your tractor? There can't be too may levers to connect the cable to so try starting the tractor and then go to the pump and move the lever to see if it stops the engine as it may be seized and why it wont allow the cable to work.
