Single Acting Hydraulic Ram

I have an old Bomford Express hedgetrimmer with a single acting hydraulic ram to lower the first arm and machine head by gravity and lift by hydraulic pressure. After sitting unused for a year we tried it out on the 990, everything worked but the single acting ram would only lift about halfway. I am...

Re: Case/David Brown 990 selectamatic mystery part

Long time since I have been in there but I seem to remember a similar dowel/pin seen from the rear. If you remove the square plate from the right hand rear you will see 2 or 3 controls which are activated by the selector switch in the cab for position, draft and TCU. One of these has a slide with a ...

Re: LQ12 Loader on a 1212?

Often wondered about David Brown loaders and about what differs with loaders between tractor models. Is it the frame or the loader arms? It would seem unlikely that with DBs Yorkshire heritage much money would be wasted so are the loader arms say the same for 700s, a little bigger for 900s and then ...

Re: hydra shift cable

I think there is a plate in the cab floor under the rubber mat on the left hand side. If my memory is correct we removed the plate (4 screws) and had to enlarge the hole with a disc cutter to get to the clevis and pin.

Brake linkage

Hi I am about to remove the rear reductions on my QCab 1210 with a view of replacing my brake shoes. I have locked down the diff lock and am about to pull the rear reductions and long half shaft away from the tractor but am unsure about the hydraulic brake linkage. Does the rear reduction slide out ...

Re: Grills

Baking cooling trays are the answer but you do have to wait until the wife has gone out. I lost my nerve at the last minute and bought two for about ££12 then she saw the new ones and she thought I had bought her a present!!

Re: steering ram

Similar PAS rams were used very extensively on the 7.5 ton range of light HGV vehicles, small tipper trucks etc. There must be a catalogue listing the dimensions available.

1210/990 parts

Hi.I have just had a rear reduction bearings collapse on my 1210, chassis No.1210/Q/11156809 which has damaged most of the rear reduction components and am looking for any knowledge on the interchangeability of rear reduction parts between 990, 1200, 1210. I always thought David Brown, sensibly, use...

Re: Hello to everyone

Just had a similar problem with my 990, overheating and pressurising the radiator. Changed the cylinder head gasket and is now OK. Gas was leaking out of head gasket and creating an airlock in the cylinder head passages.

Re: cab glass

Don't use a Fairy liquid type detergent. It contains salt and is extremely corrosive as I found to my cost when I used it on my 990. My carefully derusted and repaired cab has corroded all around the seals. Something like the tyre fitters soap may be better. I thought the DB Q cabs rusted badly but ...
