fully serviced diesel and oil 10 30 oil, head pistons rings shaft injectors and pump ok just very slow to turn over in the cold Not spending any more on it.

1490 slow starting

Now that the weather has gone cold my 1490 is very hard started when cold. last spring I put in another new battery , hi tourge starter but it is still slow turning over when cold :twisted:

I had similier problem on my 1490, only the brakes locked solid I couldn'd see any thing wrong. I pulled out the half axles stripped the brakes, nothing wrong ok since, something some wheree sticking:?: :?:

thanks the hand brake shaft is free so it looks like i'll have to take halve axle off :(

sticking brakes on 1490

I am looking for some advice The right hand brake started sticking on my 1490 to the exstent that the wheel would lock up.I let off the adjuster and readusted the brakes when i got home but now if I press the pedal or pull the hand brake the right locks solid and I can only free by going in reverse....

I spun abearing on my 1490. I cleaned my shaft with emery cloth It came out good Be sure to clean off all the dust. My shaft was all ready ground to the limits pistons + 40thou. Make sure the piston doesn't slip down very hard to squeez the rings from bottom. No problems sinceDone alot of work with ...

I had the same problem with my 1490 the teeth on the drop box were ok . It turned out to be the cable ajustment drop box end. Sometimes the handle wasn't pushing the cable far enough foward.

took the diff out . found my problem on the diff cage, the coller or what you call the bit on the diff that the crown wheel is bolted to snapped off
