Tax book

My DB780 was originally registered in Lindsey in Lincolnshire. It has a number plate and the chassis serial number matches the serial plate & the engine serial number matches the serial plate. I have requested and received a certified copy of the original registration card from the Lincolnshire Arch...

Thanks for the replies. I have all the bits apart from the slotted rods which seem to be hard to come by. There is a set on ebay at the moment (described as stabiliser bars) which are 30 inches long so I guess they are for the bigger range as the 770 are 27 inches long. Anyone got a set they are wil...

DB780 PUH

Hi,
does anyone know how long the steel puh rods are on a DB780. Its the rods that attach the half moon brackets to the actual hitch.
Cheers

I have seen this tractor and indeed took parts of it for my own 780 restoration. It definitively had 780 stamped into the front chasis. I was told that it was a very late 780 that was almost an 885? Perhaps this was a prototype? It has the 885 gear sticks, wider foot steps, wider foot plates etc... ...

Update to my broken bolt. Well I thought I had a problem but now I have an even bigger one! Drilled a 5/16 hole through the bolt and hammered a stud extractor the whole way up it. It is the round type with splines that you put a double nut on to. After a bit of levering managed to break the stud ext...

I've been trying to sort the safety switch on my 780 out and have given up... The tractor was got with part of the switch in place and I got some bits of others. Can someone confirm what parts are required? In the original parts book it lists 2 plungers with the same part numbers but on in the on-li...

780 running temperature

Hi, took the 780 on its first outing after rebuild which has included new water pump and thermostat but orginal radiator which I did flush. Checked the bottom hose and its hot and top hose is cold. Water in radiator is cold but water in block was hot. Ran tractor for about 15 minutes and water in ra...

780 Drawbar hinge bracket bolt

I managed to break 1 of the 1/2 inch bolts that holds the drawbar hinge bracket on the underside of the gearbox. It broke almost flush with the bottom of the chasis. Any advise on how to remove it bearing in mind its on the underside of tractor... I see on later models like 885 this bolt has been re...

780 PTO Studs

Went to take the nuts of the 4 studs that hold the PTO cover on and the studs are coming out rather than the nuts coming off. Apart from oil coming out of the holes for the studs is there anything connected to the back of them that will fall or dislodge if all 4 studs are removed at the same time? C...

780 Final Drive Reduction Black Oil

I took the inspection plates of my 780 final drives and the oil was black, very thick and smelt of Stockholm tar? I would have expected it to be brown... I guess the bright side is at least there was oil in them! Should I be worried about this? Why would the oil be black? I have new EP140 oil to go ...

780 / 885 Grill Guard

Hi,

does any know if the grill guard of a 885 will fit straight on a 780 with lights on the side of the bonnet? Someone told me once the 885 grill guard was heaver. Also does the grill guard double up as a weight frame if it is placed flat?

Cheers

780 dash / bonnet fitting

The bonnet on my 780 does not seem to follow the same contour of the dash and there seems to be gaps between the 2. The dash is more curved whilst the bonnet is more square. Is this normal?

780 radiator fixing instructions

It been so long since I stripped the tractor I can't remember how to assemble the radiator fixing bolts. There are 2 rubber pads, a round shim, a bolt and an L shaped bracket for each side. Can someone please explain the order these are assembled? Photo would be good! Also where does the bonnet atta...

I did one 2 weeks ago on a 6 speed 780 and following advice on here the quickest way was to split the tractor. It can be done by removing pto housing and pulling shaft out etc... but I was advised not to do it that way. It was all very straight forward splitting tractor - just make sure you wedge th...
