I would have thought any twin pack would do it.

Re: Help please with 885 tractors

if these tractors are in good order it may be worth considering speaking to Cheffins the auctioneers at Sutton Near Ely They do regular quarterly sales of vintage tractors and David Browns if they are straight normally sell quite well. Do be careful, and ask about sale charges but even Ebay is quite...

Re: Fuel shut-off solenoid Case 1394

it would be an easy conversion, we fitted those to a couple of irrigation pumps which used Perkins engines ex MF combines. These were fitted as part of a package from Murphy to give auto start stop engine oil pressure and temperature etc

Re: David brown 880 red Selectamatic 1963

might have posted this before, but my father had a 770 and a 990 on order from our local dealer. He was not best pleased when the salesman called to say that the tractors were in but they were white and brown. tried to screw some extra discount into the deal :D
Very exciting day when they turned up!

Re: using a power link box with 780 selectamatic

using the proper valve is of course the best way to go, but unless you are going to be using it regularly it may prove a little expensive. a little 2 way spool mounted on the mudguard was all most people used years ago and are not a lot of money. It will of course be a lot fiddlier in operation if y...

Re: power steering " making " fluid?

It is the shaft seal, sadly I always found that replacing was inneffectual as the problem would return quite soon. so a replacement pump would be necessary. Not sure how available they are

Re: 950 Wiring

Firstly it is always better to go to big than too small. Depending on size of dynamo but most seem about 11 amp so 20 amp cable is more than sufficient. 50 watt headlights will draw 4.25 amps each so 10 amp cable minimum same for ploughing lamp The side lights and all gauges etc will need no more th...

Re: How do I screw the injector pump in my 1490

I would put my money that this tractor has got glazed bores from not having done enough hard work, a very common problem on this model in particular. Curing it is very difficult. The proper cure is head off and using a special tool in the bores to deglaze them ( is it called peening? ). I have never...

Re: Recommended Professional DB refurbisher? Advice please

What a wonderful request, sadly I cannot help you in your search, but be aware restoring tractors is a very expensive hobby, so a restored one by a professional will be expensive. if you buy any of the vintage tractor magazines such as Classic tractor to name one , you will regularly find restored t...

Fairly certainly smaller clutch than 990 , maybe 880 fits. Your tractor may be only single stage. I believe all UK spec were live drive , but understand some export were not

Re: DB 780 selectamatic drawbar

I think you may have more luck finding hens teeth I am afraid. I am not aware if they swap with any other model either. As for the spuds , the drawbar drops over them in either the short or long position before being locked in place with the U bracket and Lynch spring clip. The other spud is for sto...

Re: 880 lazy starter (selectamatic)

you are probably right that it is a lazy starter, but is the battery kicking out full power. If it is not reading over 13 volts when charged you need to replace it. Also, are you sure the cables are good, the screw on connections can be come corroded inside drastically cutting down performance. alwa...
