Re: 990 P.U.H lift arm

it may well be a home made one to replace a damaged one. I think the giveaway would be the end which abuts the cross shaft, if that is machined I would think it was a genuine factory made part.

Re: 995 Hydraulic issues

The recommendation to use Hytran was only for Case's profit, the oil was 4 times the price of a standard universal tractor oil. Many years ago Castrol produced extensive charts for virtually every individual model tractor with the agreed lubricant as recomended by the manufacturer. There was also a ...

Re: Tyre Swap

When a tyre has not been off for a very long time, it can be near impossible to remove it from the wheel unless you place the wheel on the ground. This is because you need to be able to give it some awful big whacks with a sledge to have a chance. Some of the cheaper devices available and trying to ...

Re: 1967 David brown 990 very slow to tip trailer.

Before you spend too much on the tractor I would check it against another trailer , or try another tractor on your trailer, to make sure it is not a trailer problem.
I assume you have tried changing connectors? on both tractor and trailer

Re: Dead Clutch Pedal

it would appear from the video that the owner has tried to force the clutch apart by the free play screw. probably the clutch fingers have disintegrated and nothing you do will help matters Certainly needs splitting and a I would be certain you should reckon on a complete new clutch assembly as a mi...

Re: Witch david brown engine have i got

There is a history somewhere of the development of the Maxxum and fit clearly states that the Powershift was developed by Case at Racine, for the next generation models including the tractor that was never built I believe

Re: david brown 785

interesting decals, never seen anything like that.
the tractor appears to have been restored. Possibly the decals were made incorrectly.
with the serial numbers it should be easily possible to find the correct model number

Re: Witch david brown engine have i got

Early Case excavators sold in the UK had DB power units and transmissions. Probably to get round tariff structures.
There is an interesting tie up in the later power shift transmission as fitted to the Maxxum tractors as they were actually a US case design for what should have been a DB product

Re: 1967 David brown 990 very slow to tip trailer.

If the trailer is tipping in the TCU position forward ( which is when the system has restricted pressure in it , I would think there is little wrong with the pump and suggest that for some reason the main lift lever is not coming back to its top position. If this is the case it should not have been ...

Re: 1967 David brown 990 very slow to tip trailer.

Just had a thought
Before you do anything like stripping down the hydraulics, check your tractor against another trailer. Sometimes oil gets the wrong side of the ram and tipping becomes very near impossible. It may be, you need new seals in the trailer ram

Re: 1190 Economy Tractor

Touring India you will find many tractors looking very much like their European parentage. indeed I did in one village, find a MF 35 which the owner told me was a genuine English made machine. luckily none of them could read read and I did not point out that it was an Indian machine according to the...

Re: 1967 David brown 990 very slow to tip trailer.

What is the drop time like? Is it straining while trying to tip? This would indicate the connector is worn and not opening properly. When you say TUC I assume you mean TCU, are you pulling the lever right back, is there anything obstructing the lever from going right back? Not to be rude , but some ...

Re: Recently acquired 1490

Ollek, in the real world , turbos are fitted by people everyday to engines with no calculations apart from, can they afford it. Obviously the original manufacturers work very carefully to calculate stresses HP torque curves etc. etc but retrofitting a turbo on here will be little difference to the o...
