990 IMPLEMATIC (1961 - 1965)

With the introduction of the 990 Implematic, David Brown first used the principle of the cross-flow cylinder head in conjunction with the two-stage front mounted air-cleaner. The 990 was powered by 52 bhp direct injection diesel engine. In 1963 height control was introduced in the Implematic hydraulic system, the wheelbase was increased, a front-mounted battery fitted, and a 12-speed alternative transmission introduced.
